Third Annual Maine College Film Festival

Students often lack the advantages of professional filmmakers when it comes to having access to venues to show their work. Across the state, there are so many good films that often go unnoticed for this very reason. It is the mission of Film Chowdah to change this. Film Chowdah aims to create a breeding ground for young talent, by providing students with an outlet to show their work and network within a festival setting. As a further incentive, winning films will move on to other festivals through our partnership program.

Last year's event included two hours of programming and was shown to nearly 300 people during the screening at the Nickelodeon Cinemas. Our winning films moved on to screenings at The Maine International Film Festival, The Portland, ME Film Festival, The Image Gazer Film Festival and a Best of Film Chowdah travelling exhibit at The Augusta Savage Gallery at UMASS Amherst. With the festival now being open to all schools in Maine, we hope to have a much larger draw and even more fabulous films for the screening.
